Micro Major System

1. Purpose

  •    - To provide opportunities to access other disciplines with lower completion requirements than
          double majoring or minoring

2. Eligibility for Application

  •    - Students who are approved for the 1st major (including students taking a leave of absence)
can apply before graduation (bachelor’s degree recipients cannot apply)
  •    - Those who have met the requirements for micro major
(completed at least 12 credits including required courses)

3. How and When to Apply

  •    - Apply at the Yonsei Portal Service at the end of the semester that satisfies requirements for completing
the micro major or at the designated application period each semester thereafter
  •       ※ Same as the application period for double/interdisciplinary majors
(right after the final exam, at the end of June/January)
  •    - Application period for the first semester of 2021: Monday, June 21st – Friday, June 25th, 2021

4. Approval and Certification Processes

   - Micro major applicants can check the certification details in the micro major preliminary examination menu
after verifying whether they have met the qualification or not

The certification details for the first semester of the 2021 school year will be reviewed including the completion of
the summer semester of 2021, and preliminary certification can be checked through the preliminary examination
         inquiry menu in early August

6. Notes

  •    - If double/interdisciplinary majoring or minoring at the department where any micro major belongs
is approved, the credits for a double/interdisciplinary major or minor are recognized
(for minors, the minor application process is needed when applying for graduation/completion.)
  •    - Interdisciplinary courses that are recognized as majors in 1st and 2nd majors
(including interdisciplinary major) cannot be recognized as micro major courses.
  •    - If you change to a double/interdisciplinary major (including 3rd major) or minor in the department
to which the micro major belongs after the micro major is certified, the history of the micro major
          certification will be removed.
  •    - Students can apply for up to 2 micro majors before graduation.
  •        Student should check the curriculum for each micro major in advance and complete non-overlapping
courses in order to prevent overlapping recognition of courses between micro majors.
  •    - The completion of the micro major courses is recognized even if it is done before the spring semester of
          2021.

   - In the case of retaking micro major courses after certifying micro major, the certification details are
re-verified at the end of the semester after finally confirming the retake grade.
