Professor Chae Chan-Byoung

"Professor Chae Chan-Byoung Receives Two Prestigious IEEE Awards"

Prof. Chae Chan-Byoung (Integrated Technology) is a recipient of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award and the IEEE Outstanding Young Researcher Award given by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). IEEE Best Paper Award: The IEEE Signal Processing Society honors a paper of exceptional merit and broad interest on a subject related to the technical scope of signal processing and appearing in the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, which is one of the top 5% journals in the field of electrical and electronic engineering. Prof. Chae shares this award with Prof. David gesbert at Eurecom (France), Prof. Marios Kountouris at Supelec (France), and Prof. Robert W. Heath, Jr. at the University of Texas at Austin (U.S.). The awards ceremony was held at the IEEE ICASSP in Vancouver, Canada in May 2013. IEEE Outstanding Young Researcher Award: The IEEE Communications Society selects professors and researchers in the Asia-Pacific region who have excellent research results as Outstanding Young Researchers. It announced Prof. Chae and four other researchers as the winners. The awards ceremony was held at the IEEE globecom in California, U.S. in December 2012. Prof. Chae has continued to research on wireless network and convergence communications, and his studies have gained wide recognition both in Korea and abroad. While on the PhD program, he received the IEEE VTS Dan. E. Noble Fellowship Award, the highest honor for a graduate student in communications networks. In 2008, he won gold Prize at the Humantech Paper Contest. In 2013, he also won another gold Prize with his student Kim Na-Rae. Prof. Chae is now on the editorial committee for several journals: IEEE Trans. on Wireless Comm., IEEE Trans. on Smart Grid, IEEE Jour. of Sel. Areas in Comm., IEEE/KICS Jour. Comm. Net.
