Welcome to the course “Big Data Emerging Technology” in Coursera (www.coursera.org), which is one of the four courses of the Coursera specialization program titled "Emerging Technologies: From Smartphones to IoT to Big Data." This course was designed to help find new ways to discover how changes can be made in your company to take advantage of big data technology, evaluate your company’s data analysis technology, evaluate your company’s big data related business strategy, and design new business strategy models for your company focused on using advanced big data technology. Based on this focus, this course was designed to help professionals in business and industry as well as scientists and engineers in R&D. Therefore, I tried to include all important big data information and technologies needed for successful research, development, and business strategic planning into this course. But at the same time, I tried my best to make it as easy as possible to understand how big data technology actually works. This 6 module course can be divided into three large parts, first the ‘Big Data Rankings & Products’ part, second the ‘Big Data Technology’ part, and third the ‘IBM SPSS Statistics Projects’ part. The first ‘Big Data Rankings & Products’ part focuses on the relation and market share rankings of big data hardware, software, and professional services. The world’s top big data product line and service types of the major big data companies are reviewed, followed by the technical challenges of implementing big data technology. The second ‘Big Data Technology’ part is made up of four modules focused on how big data analysis is possible based on the world’s most popular three big data technologies Hadoop, Spark, and Storm. Among many engineering details, I have carefully selected the "must know" technologies of Hadoop, Spark, and Storm big data systems and introduce them in very easy terms. The last ‘IBM SPSS Statistics Projects’ part focuses on providing experience on one of the most famous and widely used big data statistical analysis systems in the world. These projects are important considering that as of 2018, IBM ranks 1st in big data corporations, 4th in big data software, 2nd in big data hardware, and 1st in big data professional services in the world. The projects are conducted so you can discover new ways to use, analyze, and draw charts of datasets using IBM SPSS Statistics. The lectures were designed to help find new ways to use IBM SPSS Statistics in your business, discover how changes can be made in your company to take advantage of big data technology, evaluate your company’s data analysis technology, evaluate your company’s big data related business strategy, and design new business strategy models for your company focused on using advanced big data technology. The contents of this course will enable you to design a more accurate business strategy for your company, and help you in collaborating with ICT specialists, computer scientists, and electrical engineers in planning and designing your company’s future.
