Various programs conducted with sponsorship of Czech Embassy, Czech Center, and Czech Tourism
On May 18 and 19, the "Global Day for the Spring 2003 Semester" was held under the theme of Czech culture, hosted by the Yonsei University Office of International Affairs (OIA) and organized by its affiliated club Yonsei Global.
The theme of this semester's Global Day was "Czech Day." Various programs to experience Czech culture were conducted, including tasting Czech foods such as chlebíčky (Czech open sandwich), Marlenka honey cakes, and Czech drinks, the quiz on knowledge about Czechia, making Czech-themed keyrings, playing Czech-themed boardgames, an exhibition of Czech traditional clothing, and photo booth.
H.E. Mr. Gustav Slamečka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Korea, made a surprise visit to the venue to encourage participating students and met Professor Dong-Hun Kim, Vice President for International Affairs of Yonsei University, to express gratitude for providing a place to promote Czech culture.
The Czech Day of the spring 2023 was planned from the beginning of the semester by Czech students and the Yonsei Global club’s Global Day team members, with the support of the Office of International Affairs. It was even more meaningful in that the students' efforts allowed visitors to enjoy richer Global Day events like Czech food with sponsorship from various Czech institutions and companies, such as the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Seoul, Czech Center Seoul, Czech Tourism, Marlenka, Pilsner Urquell, and Manufaktura. In addition, visitors who participated in more than five booths at the venue were given the opportunity to win Czech-related gifts through a lucky draw.
A total of 1,000 people visited in two days, making the Global Day for the spring 2023 semester successful.
Global Day is a representative event that helps Yonsei University students actively interact with diverse cultures and broaden their perspectives on the world. It is held regularly twice a year. -
